Condition: First Edition, contemporary half calf elegantly gilt, black morocco label. Portrait of Michell & c.pp290, bound without half-title[?], binding a little scuffed or darkened, else a very good copy. The 5 plates of ruins at Petra, Thebes, Pompeii, Verona, and Baalbec are quite browned at the edges : the book is otherwise internally clean and crisp.

Name stamp of William Peers of Bury on blank corner of title-page and on endpaper, and small attractive modern woodcut booklabel on front paste-down. Vol 1 backstrip bit rubbed and joints splitting, Vol 2 in very good condition, both vols very clean and fresh internally.
