Still a topical pamphlet. Brydges is best known for his editorial work on early literature. But as MP for Maidstone he was actively involved both with the Copyright Bill and with the poor laws. First issued separately Bensley for Longmans 1817.

The author, John Cassidy, is an award-winning writer for The New Yorker and the Sunday Times. First published in the same year in the USA by Farrar, Starus & Giroux.
